About TAO Chicago
Located at 632 N Dearborn St, Chicago, IL 60654, TAO Chicago operates as a restaurant serving Chicago in Illinois. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it. Besides its main category, the business also describes itself as asian restaurant, chinese restaurant, japanese restaurant, so it may cover more than the name suggests.

Standard US restaurant norms apply: lunch and dinner service with a quieter stretch between, cards and tap-to-pay accepted almost everywhere, and a tip of 15-20% customary for table service. Many restaurants in this group take reservations online through third-party platforms, while casual and fast-food spots are walk-in only. Sales tax is added at the register on top of the menu price and varies by city and state, so the final total is usually a few percent higher than the posted prices suggest.

Chicago is in Illinois, in the Midwest, where summers are warm, winters are cold and snowy, and most errands are done by car; businesses keep steady year-round hours with the usual holiday changes. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Chicago follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

We had had a great time at Tao Chicago last night. Had an 830 rez got seated around 9.. Opted for Harmonized for the table. Appetizer, Amakasi sushi/rolls, mains, and dessert. It was a very nice option for our table. The dry ice presentation was terrific. Enjoyed it. It was a dining experience for sure. Having a DJ during dinner was new for me. Very upbeat high-energy loud dinner. We got to sample many menu items with our 4 course dinner and I didnt think all the food that we ate was that great. Some definitely missed the mark. Presentation was terrific though. I would recommend this dining experience.

I absolutely love the ambiance! Just gorgeous. Didn't like the BBQ chicken with was vinegary so I exchanged it for the crispy orange chicken, which wasn't crispy. The Brussels Sprouts weren't charred and very crunchy. I also had to exchange my cocktail. Dinner was over $200 for 2 people. Service was great. He loved his food.

TAO Chicago is a vibe β visually, at least. The food genuinely delivered. The lobster wontons in shiitake ginger broth were a great way to start, and the tempura green beans and tempura avocado were solid appetizers. The shrimp fried rice was the clear winner of the night β good enough that my husband sent back his original dish and ordered the same thing I got. A few things kept it from being a 5-star experience though: our server was managing a lot of tables and the attention showed β drink refills were slower than we wouldβve liked. And the noise level made actual conversation at the table pretty tough. Reservation was honored on time, food came out well, but the overall experience was just okay. The kitchen is doing its job. The rest of the experience just needs to match it.

Tao Chicago definitely stands out when it comes to atmosphere and the space is beautiful, lively, and has that upscale, high-end vibe. Itβs a great place to go if youβre looking for an energetic night out or want to enjoy the scene. However, the food and pricing donβt quite live up to the experience. Tao positions itself as a higher-end restaurant, so everything is on the pricier side, but the portions are fairly small for what you pay. While the food is good, itβs not necessarily worth the cost compared to other spots in the same range. Overall, Iβd recommend coming here for the Tao party and ambiance rather than for a full dining experience. Itβs a great place to hang out and enjoy the vibe just donβt expect the food to be the highlight.

Me and my friendβs came here for dinner to celebrate our birthdays, and overall we had a really good time. The atmosphere was really nice and honestly one of my favorite parts. The inside is beautiful, with so many eye catching details everywhere. The music was really good too and set the vibe. We came for dinner, but you can tell it brings that lounge/club energy as well, which was just what we needed! The service was good, everyone was nice, and our food came out pretty fast. We got sushi and dumplings, and those were amazing! It is definitely expensive, but that was expected. My only complaint was the steak. We got the $110 steak, and even though it tasted okay, I donβt feel like it was worth $110. I was expecting more, so that part was a little disappointing, and I probably wouldnβt order it again. Other than that, everything else was great, and Iβd definitely come back! π
